Mullum Pantry
Mullum Pantry Overview
MMIGP has established a community controlled and managed pantry run by staff and volunteers which is a resounding success. This unique program is based on an energy exchange model and distributes fresh produce amongst other essentials that would otherwise end up in landfill.
Our pantry not only provides food relief to the community but also acts as a form of community engagement and educational platform. Our Foodbank provides a platform for knowledge sharing, health promotion and empowers our community to take control of their wellbeing.
In addition to our wonderful volunteers, MMIGP receive incredible support and ongoing commitment from Empower and Foodbank Australia. MMIGP also receives donations from various generous organisations and individuals and continue to fundraise to support this initiative.
MMIGP’s Foodbank (now Mullum Pantry) was the recipient of an award in the past – Program Leadership and Innovation from the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee (convened by Indigenous Issues Unit within the Department of Justice). MMIGP was also nominated for the Statewide award in the same category.
Mullum pantry is available for all Indigenous community members, their partners, families and carers who reside in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.
