Men’s Group

Program Overview

The Men’s group is for Aboriginal men, within the EMR. This program has been developed to support Aboriginal men within the EMR, strengthen their culturally identity and strengthen their families and community. The men gather in an informal and relaxed environment to undertake social activities such as day trips, men’s cultural activities, or just to catch up, have a feed and have a yarn.

Focus groups based on culture, recreation and education are the core basis of engaging the men. MMAGP’s men’s group also builds linkages to other Aboriginal men’s group around the region, state and nation. We envisage the men’s group can provide support and mentorship to other programs operating from MMAGP such as the Youth, Elders and Women’s group.

Our Men’s group meet weekly on Thursday between 4pm-6pm. Please see our calendar of events for more information.

If you would like to join or learn more about our Men’s Group, please contact our Men’s Worker Peta on

Aunty Jackie’s Pantry

Aunty Jackie’s Pantry Overview

MMAGP has established a community controlled and managed pantry run by staff and volunteers which is a resounding success. This unique program is based on an energy exchange model and distributes fresh produce amongst other essentials that would otherwise end up in landfill.

Our pantry not only provides food relief to the community but also acts as a form of community engagement and educational platform. Our Foodbank provides a platform for knowledge sharing, health promotion and empowers our community to take control of their wellbeing.

In addition to our wonderful volunteers, MMAGP receive incredible support and ongoing commitment from Empower and Foodbank Australia. MMAGP also receives donations from various generous organisations and individuals and continue to fundraise to support this initiative.

MMAGP’s Foodbank (now Aunty Jackie’s Pantry) was the recipient of an award in the past  – Program Leadership and Innovation from the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee (convened by Aboriginal Issues Unit within the Department of Justice). MMAGP was also nominated for the Statewide award in the same category.

Aunty Jackie’s Pantry is available for all Aboriginal community members, their partners, families and carers who reside in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.

If you would like more information please contact our Pantry Co-ordinator Tuesday & Wednesday between 9am-5pm or email Elishia at elishia.hellier@mmigp.org.au
